Bio:
Paul Macey, PhD, is a professor at UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing whose work bridges neuroscience, health, and clinical realities. At the University of California, Los Angeles, he studies how brain structure and function relate to sleep-disordered breathing, especially obstructive sleep apnea, and how those changes intersect with physiological regulation and psychological stress. His lab uses MRI and in-home mobile health approaches to link brain measures with breathing and cardiovascular control, mood, and cognitive outcomes, with the broader goal of improving symptom treatment beyond standard CPAP alone.
Dialogue Experience/Expertise:
Paul M. Macey was a Dialogue across Difference Faculty Fellow in 2024–25. He also collaborates widely and has recently expanded into research on dialogue skills training through a practice-based course designed to help students navigate difficult conversations more calmly and constructively.
